Dirt Rich, a Geotherapy Documentary, Screening at Festivals around the World
[UPDATE: You can watch the full documentary on Vimeo on Demand.]
“Touching, instructive, endearing, astute, grounded, heartwarming, and remarkable. Adjectives cannot describe how skillfully Dirt Rich portrays the emergent wisdom of the new breed of earth stewards, scientists, smallholders, agronomists, and activists who brilliantly husband land (and animals) in order to midwife a regenerative civilization.”
Filmmaker Marcelina Cravat and the team behind the award winning environmental documentary Angel Azul have released Dirt Rich, a first of its kind documentary that comprehensively shifts focus on the topic of global warming from emissions, to carbon drawdown.
Dirt Rich features geotherapy and regenerative agriculture, and it is currently making the rounds of international film festivals. The film is narrated by actor Gregory Cruz and features music by Tom Rhodes. It has already screened at numerous film festivals and will screen at several more over the coming months.
Remineralization, biochar, and geotherapy play a prominent role in Dirt Rich. The film features interviews with Dr. Tom Goreau, a proactive board director of Remineralize the Earth and editor of Geotherapy: Innovative Methods of Soil Fertility Restoration, Carbon Sequestration, and Reversing CO2 Increase.
Cravat got the idea to make Dirt Rich from a comment Dr. Goreau made during the filming of Angel Azul. She asked him about the possibility of a machine that could remove carbon from the atmosphere, and he responded, “Yes, we have the perfect machine, and…. it’s called, a tree!” This led Cravat to explore the ideas of geotherapy, regenerative agriculture, and remineralization.
Dirt Rich employs a refreshing approach, blending a narrative feel with documentary filmmaking. Through beautiful footage shot around the world, thought-provoking metaphors, dual messaging, and fantastic music, Dirt Rich empowers viewers with knowledge and inspiration to participate in solutions that can literally reverse the vast effects of runaway global warming.
