Biochar and Rock Dust for Nutrient Dense Food, soil fertility restoration, and Carbon Sequestration
Groundbreaking research project with rock dust and biochar at New Harmony Farm in West Newbury, MA
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
Margaret Mead, Anthropologist
Working on solutions to some of the world’s threatening environmental challenges and creating the world we want to live in is a thrilling opportunity. At Remineralize the Earth we are doing just that – working on research that has the potential to alleviate many of the environ...

VIDEO: Remineralizing Brazil, Dr. Suzi Huff Theodoro
We're heading over to Brasília to interview Suzi Huff Theodoro, a geologist with a PhD in sustainable development, her particular focus: remineralizing soils! Suzi is a research professor at the University of Brasilia and she also has been an advisor to the Brazilian Parliament for the environment and agriculture. She's been engaged in projects and research on remineralization for over 15 years. Read the full transcript here.
VIDEO: Rock Dust and Biochar as a Strategy for Carbon Sequestration (at SER2011)
RTE has filmed a discussion on the potential role of remineralization to sequester carbon and stabilize the climate. Three prominent speakers participated in the discussion during SER2011, the 4th World Conference on Ecological Restoration in Merida, Mexico: Dr. Goreau, President of the Global Coral Reef Alliance and Coordinator of the UN Commission (SIDSPINST), Ron Larson, an expert on biochar, and Albert Bates, author and director of the Institute for Appropriate Technology.

Soil scientist Jairo Restrepo Rivera of COAS has books and a video available in Spanish on remineralization
"It is lamentable that as soil scientists coming from the university classroom we are not acquainted with the natural solubility of the minerals found in rocks. What would Julius Hensel say!"
"What we need to discuss is, what gives life to plants? What animates the minerals so that they can be transformed into biodiversity? For this we have to make a great effort as scientists to understand that agriculture and plants aren't the arbitrary sum of minerals: plants are harmony, a symphony, a miracle of nature. For me, is enough to respect the miracle, feel that life is beautiful and that we have to defend it and live it intensely."
