Hello Ted,
What is "whin dust" or is that a typo? Some granite dust has been shown to give very good results, such as the old "Hybro-Tite" product from Georgia in the U.S., although most granites are relatively high in silicon and aluminum and thus relatively lower in the other biologically essential elements, thus offering less overall food for microbial and plant growth. Nature normally uses natural rock mixtures to produce Earth's most fertile soils, and probably does the same on any other habitable planets in the Universe, so like John Hamaker I think that when we can, we and the soil would be best served from seeking out rock dust or fines from mixed glacial or river gravel, or comparable. Mixing multiple types yourself, including the granite fines, might also give allow Nature's soil-life system to provide you with superior results, if you have opportunity to experiment with that. I hope these thoughts help you in your own thinking and choices, and that you'll share further questions, answers, and progress in your organic-mineralized farming work. Thanks!
